Abandoned Infant Found in Saqqez
On Saturday, December 13th, a three-month-old infant who had been abandoned on a street in Saqqez was discovered. The infant was transferred to a hospital for medical examination, and due to the lack of an infant care facility in Saqqez, was subsequently transferred to a nursery outside the city. The head of the Saqqez Welfare Organization reported that the infant is in good health.
According to Hrana News Agency, citing IRNA, the head of the Saqqez Welfare Organization announced the discovery of a three-month-old infant at the entrance of one of the welfare organization’s units in the city.
Mohammad Joya stated: “On the morning of Saturday, December 13th, one of our colleagues noticed the presence of an infant wrapped in a blanket who had been left in front of one of the organization’s units.”
He added: “We immediately contacted the relevant authorities, and after filing a report on the matter, upon the prosecutor’s order, the infant was transferred to the hospital to receive necessary care and medical examinations.”
Joya further noted: “Since Saqqez does not have a facility for caring for children under six years old, after confirming that the child was healthy and following a two-day observation period, in accordance with existing guidelines, the infant was transferred to a nursery and care facility for children under six years old located outside Saqqez.”
The head of the Saqqez Welfare Organization stated: “This infant is currently healthy and under care at the nursing center.”
Regarding the identity of the infant’s parents, he said: “We have no information about them, and in these past few days no one has come forward to inquire about the child’s fate. This organization, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, is investigating to identify the parents.”
With a population of over 226,000, Saqqez is the second most populous city in Kurdistan Province, located 190 kilometers north of Sanandaj, the provincial capital.
