Amirhossein Seirafi Released from Evin Prison After Completion of Sentence

Amirhossein (Iman) Seirafi, a security prisoner, was released from Evin Prison on Saturday, October 17, 2020, after serving approximately 7 years in prison following the completion of his sentence. Mr. Seirafi was arrested in November 2013 and was sentenced approximately one year later by Tehran’s Revolutionary Court to 7 years in prison and 3 years suspended imprisonment.

According to HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, on Saturday, October 17, 2020, Amirhossein (Iman) Seirafi, a security prisoner, was released from Evin Prison upon completion of his sentence.

Amirhossein Seirafi was arrested on November 27, 2013, by security forces at his residence and transferred to the detention facility of the Ministry of Intelligence, known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison. After spending more than one month in solitary confinement cells, he was transferred to the general ward 350 of the prison following the completion of his interrogations.

Mr. Seirafi was finally tried, more than one year after his arrest, in February 2015 by Branch 15 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court under the presiding judge Abolqasem Salavati, and was sentenced to 7 years in prison and 3 years suspended imprisonment on the charge of “contact with hostile states.” This verdict was upheld in full by the appeals court in June 2016 and was communicated to him.

Mr. Seirafi’s family had continuously demanded the presentation of documents, evidence, and legal justifications from the judicial authorities for his arrest throughout the proceedings.

While Mr. Seirafi was serving his sentence in the educational ward 7, hall 12 of Evin Prison, he was transferred in late last year from the educational ward 4, hall 1 of the prison.

Amirhossein (Iman) Seirafi is a computer engineer and specialist in the field of cybersecurity.

HRANA reported in late March of last year on the latest conditions of 52 political and security prisoners in educational ward 4, hall 1 of Evin Prison.
