Arrest of Maryam Ameri by Security Forces in Ahvaz

Maryam Ameri, a citizen of Ahvaz, was arrested by security forces at her home on Wednesday, December 10th, and transferred to an unknown location.

According to the Hrana news agency, the news organ of the Iranian Human Rights Activists’ Network, on Wednesday, December 10th, 2020, Maryam Ameri, a citizen of Ahvaz, was arrested by security forces and transferred to an unknown location.

It is reported that Ms. Ameri’s arrest was carried out by officials from the Ahvaz Intelligence Agency. However, as of the time of this report, no information is available regarding the reasons for her arrest, the charges brought against her, or the location of her detention.

Hrana also reported yesterday on the arrest of Fatema Tamimi, a citizen of the city of Chamran, a suburb of Bandar Mahshahr.

According to an informed source, Ms. Ameri is a close friend of Fatema Tamimi who was collecting stories, lullabies, and songs in Arabic together with her for the purpose of recording the oral history of villages from village to village.

Maryam Ameri is a citizen of Ahvaz and is unmarried.
