Court trial for man accused of participating in Iran’s 1988 executions to resume in two months

Iraj Mesdaghi, a former political prisoner and researcher, announced on Wednesday that the trial of Hamid Nouri, accused of participating in Iran’s 1988 executions, will resume in approximately two months.
According to Mr. Mesdaghi, who is himself a complainant in Hamid Nouri’s case, Nouri’s trial will take place on June 8th next year, approximately two months from now, in Sweden.
Iraj Mesdaghi has referred to this trial as “the largest trial in Swedish history” and stated that it will consist of 89 sessions.
Hamid Nouri, who has been reported to have “used the alias Hamid Abbasi and was a former prosecutor in the judiciary of the Islamic Republic,” was arrested in Sweden in November 2019 by court order.
Iraj Mesdaghi at that time, in an interview with Radio Farda, introduced Hamid Nouri as the deputy to Judge Mohammad Moghisseh and described him as playing “an active role” in the 1988 executions.
Mr. Mesdaghi has announced on Twitter that he will appear in court as the first complainant in the trial.
