Elham Samimi Released on Bail

On Thursday, December 11, Elham Samimi, a student at Tehran University, was temporarily released after posting bail. Ms. Samimi had been arrested by security forces in Tehran on December 4.

According to Hrana news agency, the news outlet of the Iran Human Rights Activists Network, on Thursday, December 11, 2020, Elham Samimi, a detained student at Tehran University, was released.

Ms. Samimi’s release was temporary and conditional upon posting bail of 1.3 billion tomans, pending the completion of legal proceedings.

This citizen was arrested on Tuesday, December 4, 2020, by security forces following her presence at Evin Prison.

Prior to her arrest, Elham Samimi had been interrogated multiple times at one of the detention facilities of security agencies at Evin Prison and at safe houses operated by security forces on Labafi Nejad Street in Tehran. Following her refusal to return to the safe house for further interrogation, she and her family faced threats from security forces.

On Friday, October 16, this student’s residence was searched by security forces. After the search, officers seized several of Ms. Samimi’s personal items and took them away. Ms. Samimi was threatened by the officers with summons and security and judicial action.
