Elham Samimi Arrested by Security Forces

On Tuesday, December 4th, Elham Samimi, a student at Tehran University, was arrested by security forces. Prior to this, on October 16th, her residence was searched by security officials and she had been summoned and threatened with security and legal action.

According to Hrana News Agency, citing the channel of student guilds councils across the country, on Tuesday, December 4th, 2020, Elham Samimi, an anthropology student at Tehran University, was arrested by security forces.

Based on this report, prior to her arrest, Elham Samimi had been repeatedly interrogated at one of the detention centers of security agencies in Evin Prison and in safe houses of security forces on Labafi Nejad Street in Tehran. Following her refusal to appear again at the safe house to continue interrogation, she and her family faced threats from security forces.

She was ultimately arrested on the current day under pressure from security forces after appearing in Evin Prison.

On Friday, October 16th, her residence was searched by security forces. After searching her home, officials confiscated a number of Ms. Samimi’s personal belongings and took them away. Ms. Samimi was threatened by officials with summons and security and legal action.
