Babak Aghazadeh Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison

Babak Aghazadeh, a citizen and street sweeper at Malkan Municipality, was sentenced to 5 years in prison by the Maragheh Revolutionary Court. He was arrested on December 16, 2019 by the Information Office forces of this city during work and transferred to the detention center of this organization in Tabriz. Approximately two months later, he was temporarily released after posting bail until the end of legal proceedings.

According to Hrana News Agency, the news organ of the Human Rights Activists Network in Iran, Babak Aghazadeh, a citizen and street sweeper at Malkan Municipality, was sentenced to prison.

Babak Aghazadeh was tried before the Maragheh Revolutionary Court presided over by Judge Mohammad Jebari and represented by lawyer Sajjad Vali Biglou, and was ultimately convicted of charges of propaganda against the system and membership in one of the opposition groups, resulting in a 5-year prison sentence.

This citizen was arrested on December 16, 2019 by the Information Office forces of this city during work and transferred to the Tabriz Information Office detention center. Approximately two months later, after being transferred to Tabriz Prison, he was temporarily released after posting 600 million Tomans bail until the end of legal proceedings.

Babak Aghazadeh works as a street sweeper at Malkan Municipality.
