Official Statistics of COVID-19 Cases in Iran Exceeds 380,000

Sima Lari, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Health, announced on Thursday that 129 people died in Iran due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

According to her, nearly two thousand new patients have been identified.

With the addition of new cases, the total number of coronavirus cases in Iran has exceeded 380,000 people, and the death toll is reported to be close to 22,000.

There is serious doubt about the Ministry of Health’s statistics, and some experts and doctors believe the actual figures in Iran are significantly higher than the government’s official numbers.

According to the Ministry of Health spokesperson, 13 provinces including Tehran and northern provinces remain in a red alert status, and 15 other provinces are in a warning status.

Despite this trend, Mohsen Haji Mirzaei, Iran’s Minister of Education, announced on Thursday that schools will resume in-person classes from September 6th (15th of Shahrivar).

According to the Minister of Education, considering the spread of coronavirus, measures including staggered school shifts and reducing student attendance time in classes to 35 minutes have been considered.

The decision to reopen schools was made while some health officials have opposed students attending schools.
