One-Third of Corona Patients in ICU in Bushehr are Young People

Iran’s Deputy Health Minister stated that in Bushehr Province, one-third of corona patients admitted to intensive care units are young people.
Qasem Jan Babaei, speaking Sunday evening on July 12 at the provincial coronavirus task force meeting in Bushehr Province, did not provide exact statistics on the number of patients in the province but said the province “is among the provinces with a large number of severely ill patients and high rates of people seeking treatment including children, middle-aged individuals and children”.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis, Iran’s Health Ministry officials have refrained from providing detailed statistics for different provinces and instead issue general reports on coronavirus.
Nevertheless, in recent days, warnings from Health Ministry officials about the increase in coronavirus cases among young people and children have increased.
MohammadReza Mahboobfarr, a member of the national coronavirus prevention committee, told Khorasan newspaper yesterday that 15 percent of coronavirus patients belong to the age group of 3 to 16 years old.
He attributed the increase in coronavirus cases among children and adolescents to the presence of these individuals accompanying their parents in places with high human gatherings.
