Zeinab Ismaili Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison

On Saturday, December 1st, Zeinab Ismaili, a citizen from Dehgolan county, was sentenced in absentia by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj to six years of discretionary imprisonment.

According to a report by Hrana news agency citing Kurdpa, on Saturday, December 1st, 2020, a citizen from Dehgolan county was sentenced in absentia by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj to six years of discretionary imprisonment.

Based on this report, the identity of this citizen was identified as “Zeinab Ismaili” from Dehgolan county and a member of Mothers of Reconciliation in Kurdistan.

According to an informed source cited in this report: “Zeinab Ismaili was sentenced to five years in prison on charges of membership in one of the opposition parties and to one year imprisonment on charges of propaganda against the system”.

The informed source added: “After Zeinab Ismaili’s family learned of the issuance of the sentence, they proceeded to hire a lawyer and file an appeal petition. Following the acceptance of the appeal petition for Zeinab Ismaili, on Saturday, the first of Azar month, the court session for this citizen was held in the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj presided over by Judge ‘Saidi’, the court that issued the sentence in absentia”.

He continued: “This citizen was not informed of the court summons due to her mobile phone being confiscated by security forces, and the court summons was sent via text message to her mobile phone”.

This citizen was arrested on March 29, 2019 in Dehgolan city by security forces and transferred to the detention center of Sanandaj Intelligence Office for interrogation, and on April 6 of the current year, she was released from the women’s section of Sanandaj Correction and Training Center after posting bail.

It should be noted that Mothers of Reconciliation in Kurdistan was established by a number of mothers of victims and executed political prisoners.
