Shahbanu Farah Pahlavi: Islamic Republic Has Left People Without Hope and Is Driving Them to Suicide

Shahbanu Farah Pahlavi, in response to the self-immolation of Jahangir Azadi Miankouhi, a veteran of the eight-year Iran-Iraq War, and the suicide of Imran Mohammadi Roshan, a worker at an oil well in Khuzestan, said: In a country where, due to social injustice and disregard for citizens’ demands, two compatriots, Jahangir Azadi Miankouhi and Imran Mohammadi Roshan, end their lives in such a tragic manner, it indicates that society has reached a point where there is no way out except self-immolation and suicide.
In a statement released on Thursday, she further stated: When helpless people prefer death to this way of life, and consider the pain of dying less torturous than the agony of living, this is a sign of falling into an abyss for which the government alone is responsible and accountable. I wish for all the people of Iran a prosperous, free Iran with general welfare for all citizens.
