Highest Number of COVID-19 Cases Reported Globally in a Single Day

The World Health Organization says that in the 24 hours leading up to the first day of June, the highest number of COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic have been reported to the organization from various countries around the world.

According to the organization, 106,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the past 24 hours, the disease caused by the outbreak of the new coronavirus.

However, the World Health Organization is not directly able to verify statistics and figures, and only reflects what official authorities or relevant organizations in countries present. Nevertheless, the past 24 hours saw the highest official count recorded globally.

According to the United Nations-affiliated organization, nearly two-thirds of reported cases are attributed to four countries. However, Tedros Adhanom, the head of this organization, did not name these four countries during Wednesday’s press conference.

Currently, the highest number of cases recorded or reported, according to Johns Hopkins University in America, pertains to four countries: the United States, Russia, Brazil, and Britain; data from the World Health Organization also indicates that these same four countries are at the top of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Another issue that has been warned about again is the increase in cases in developing and poor countries. Although many countries in Europe, East Asia, and other regions are in the process of easing travel restrictions and regulations.

According to Johns Hopkins University data, the number of COVID-19 cases worldwide has reached five million. (Last updated at 10 AM Tehran time)

Dr. Mike Ryan, director of emergency programs at the World Health Organization, previously described reaching five million cases as a “tragic milestone” in his conversation with reporters.

Tedros also added “we have a long road ahead of us” and added “we are deeply concerned about the increasing number of cases in countries with middle and low incomes.”

While the number of patients seen in countries like India is following an increasing trend, in some Latin American countries such as Peru, Mexico, or Chile, more than two thousand cases have been recorded daily for nearly a week.
