Iran’s Health Ministry spokesperson announced that 72 coronavirus patients died over the past 24 hours.
Kianush Jahanpour, who announced Iran’s official coronavirus statistics on Sunday, June 8, stated that the total number of victims of this disease in Iran has reached 8,281 people.
He also reported the identification of 2,364 new patients over the past 24 hours and said “so far, 171,789 people have been definitively infected with the coronavirus.”
According to the Health Ministry spokesperson, among the new patients, 648 cases have been hospitalized.
According to Iran’s Health Ministry officials, the number of hospitalized coronavirus patients has increased compared to previous days.
Jahanpour also said that 2,596 coronavirus patients are currently in critical condition, and so far 134,349 patients have recovered.
According to the Health Ministry spokesperson, currently 9 cities in Khuzestan Province are in red alert status, and Hormozgan and Kurdistan provinces are also in warning status.
The Health Ministry spokesperson did not provide statistics on the condition of coronavirus patients in these provinces.
Fardin Hameti, governor of Hormozgan, expressed concern on June 7 about the resurgence of coronavirus in the province, stating that ICU beds in Bandar Abbas hospitals are completely full.
The Health Ministry’s statistics on the coronavirus situation in Iran are being released while previously some parliamentary representatives and city council members have accused the Health Ministry of concealing statistics on coronavirus deaths and cases.
The Parliament Research Center had previously estimated in a report that the number of deaths was twice and the number of infected cases was 8 to 10 times higher than the Health Ministry’s figures.
