Corona in America: Death toll surpasses 5,000

The widespread outbreak of coronavirus continues across the globe, claiming thousands of lives each day. The death toll from COVID-19 in the United States has exceeded 5,000 people. The situation in France and Spain remains critical.
The number of coronavirus and COVID-19 cases and deaths continues to rise rapidly worldwide.
The news website of Germany’s first public broadcaster reported on Thursday morning, April 14 (April 2), citing Johns Hopkins University, that the death toll in the United States exceeded 5,100 people.
It is reported that about 2,000 of the coronavirus victims were residents of New York. According to CNN, 900 people died from the virus in the United States on Wednesday alone, an unprecedented figure.
It was also announced that more than 215,000 people have been infected with the new coronavirus so far. As a result, the United States has become the epicenter of coronavirus spread in the world.
Donald Trump, President of the United States, given this critical trend, announced on Tuesday, April 12 (March 31), that the restrictions imposed in the United States would be extended for another two weeks.
U.S. government officials, despite these measures, believe that between 100,000 and 240,000 people in the country will lose their lives as a result of the coronavirus epidemic.
Trump himself spoke of a “war against a deadly virus” and stressed that difficult days await American citizens in the coming weeks.
The President of the United States said at a press conference at the White House on Wednesday evening, April 13 (April 1): “I know that every American will do their patriotic duty and will help us achieve absolute victory [over coronavirus].”
Trump also said that his administration is reviewing travel restrictions within the United States.
Over 4,000 victims in France
The coronavirus crisis is also severe in France. Jerome Salomon, director of the French Ministry of Health, announced that the death toll from coronavirus in the country exceeded 4,000 people.
He said that in just 24 hours (Wednesday, April 1), more than 500 people were added to the death toll from COVID-19.
Reuters reported, citing French government sources, that the official death toll is likely to increase.
Currently, the official figures only include those who died in hospitals from coronavirus infection. However, it is planned that the number of people who died in nursing homes will now be added to these statistics.
According to Johns Hopkins University, more than 57,000 people infected with coronavirus have been identified across France so far.
The sharp increase in the number of infected people has put Paris hospitals and surrounding areas under severe pressure. Therefore, it is planned to transfer severely ill patients to hospitals in other parts of France and also to hospitals in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany.
Crisis situation continues in Spain
The Spanish government, given the rapid spread of coronavirus in the country, imposed severe restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Despite these efforts, the critical situation in the country continues, and the number of infected and deceased from coronavirus in Spain is increasing significantly.
Spanish authorities announced that on Wednesday alone (April 1), 864 people died from coronavirus infection. This was the fifth consecutive day that the daily death toll from the virus in Spain exceeded 800 people.
According to the latest official figures, more than 9,300 people have died from coronavirus infection in Spain so far. The total number of people infected with the virus in the country has also been reported to exceed 104,000.
