Number of COVID-19 Cases in America Exceeds China and Italy
The number of people infected with coronavirus globally has surpassed half a million. America now has the highest number of cases. Trump has attributed the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in America to widespread testing of the virus in the country.
For the first time since the coronavirus outbreak in the world, the number of people infected with the disease in America has exceeded that of China and Italy. According to statistics released by American authorities, the number of people infected with this respiratory disease in America has doubled within the current week.
While China’s government claims to have controlled the spread of coronavirus in its country and the pace of the outbreak in Italy has slowed somewhat, reports indicate a rapid increase in confirmed cases of coronavirus in America.
Reuters reported on Friday, April 27 (March 27) that the number of people infected with COVID-19 in America has reached over 82,400. This is while China has reported a total of 81,800 confirmed cases of coronavirus.
In Italy, the number of patients has been reported to be about 2,000 fewer than America. This is while according to a report published by Johns Hopkins University, the number of people infected with coronavirus worldwide has exceeded half a million.
Increased Criticism in America
The rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in America has led to increased criticism of Donald Trump’s government’s response to the disease.
Donald Trump claimed that regarding the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in America, the reason should be attributed to the widespread testing of coronavirus in America. He also added that statistics released by other countries, including China, are not accurate.
This is while according to experts’ assessments, the number of people infected with COVID-19 in America is higher than the figures released by Trump’s government.
Furthermore, criticism regarding delays in conducting COVID-19 tests in America has increased. It is reported that in many parts of America, doctors, nurses, and emergency personnel report shortages of masks, safety clothing, and coronavirus test kits.
It should be recalled that the highest number of coronavirus deaths has been recorded in Italy. Coronavirus has so far caused 1,100 deaths in America. This is while in Italy, 8,000 people have died from contracting this disease.
The increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in America is taking place as a bill has been presented to Congress regarding the allocation of a budget equivalent to 2.2 trillion dollars to combat the disease. The United States House of Representatives is scheduled to decide on this matter on Friday, March 27.
