Iran Government Spokesman: 60 Million People Need Financial Support

According to Iran’s government spokesman, the government’s social and financial support plan will cover more than 18 million Iranian households. Rabiee also provided explanations regarding the government’s fight against corruption.

On Wednesday, November 22 (November 13), Ali Rabiee responded to journalists’ questions about the government’s social and financial support plan, as well as administrative corruption and several other issues.

According to the government spokesman, the number of households eligible to receive social and financial support will likely reach 60 million people. According to Rabiee, this figure includes more than 18 million households.

Rabiee stated: “Some regions of the country are completely deprived and there are beneficiaries who have always been in need. Female heads of households and people with fixed incomes, including workers and retirees, are among these people.”

The President’s Social Communications Assistant clarified that lower and middle-income social classes will be covered by this plan.

Rabiee further emphasized that those who are not included in receiving the government’s social and financial support have the right to object, and “governors, district administrators, the executive headquarters of the Ministry of Labor, and the Management and Planning Organization will carefully and promptly address complaints in coordination with each other.”

Regarding how to finance this plan, the government spokesman said: “Various scenarios are being considered so that we can allocate a significant amount for social and financial support. The economic dimensions and non-inflationary nature of this type of financing were among the serious topics discussed in the government. In this regard, the Central Bank has examined the inflationary effects of various scenarios, and we will have considerations so that the inflationary effects, given the payment method and type of spending, are minimized. This method will definitely be implemented with the least inflationary effects.”

According to Rabiee, from Wednesday evening, implementing agencies will appear in television programs and explain different aspects of the plan to the public.

Billion-Dollar Questions

In response to a question about Rouhani’s recent remarks regarding the two billion dollars that the US government has confiscated, the government spokesman said: “One billion and 800 million dollars were securities purchased during the government after Mr. Khatami, and these securities were purchased with an institution for investment, which institution warned that you take this money out, but based on this warning, the money was not withdrawn at the time in question. Why this money was not withdrawn at its proper time was an ambiguity that was of concern to the President, and we believe that clarifying these ambiguities is necessary for today’s society.”

Ali Rabiee continued on the subject of Babak Zanjani’s financial affairs and said that he received 800 million dollars from a bank and it should be determined who ordered the transfer of this money, “which was separate from the money from oil sales.”

The government spokesman, quoting President Rouhani, said: “Oil was taken from the government under a title, but it is not clear where the money went.” According to Rabiee, “significant figures are being discussed in this regard.”
