Boris Johnson, British Prime Minister Transferred to Intensive Care Unit

Britain is concerned about the life and health of its prime minister: Boris Johnson’s physical condition has deteriorated. The transfer of Boris Johnson to the intensive care unit was carried out based on the assessment of his medical team. Johnson is suffering from coronavirus.

Boris Johnson’s medical team, the British Prime Minister, has determined that his transfer to the intensive care unit of St. Thomas’ Hospital is necessary. The news of the British Prime Minister’s transfer to the intensive care unit of this hospital has been officially announced by the government.

The government statement in London stated that Johnson’s transfer to intensive care is precautionary in nature and this measure has been taken so that if the British Prime Minister requires a ventilator, this facility would be available to him.

Boris Johnson, who is 55 years old, was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, April 5th due to coronavirus infection. Initially, it was stated that his hospital admission was for preliminary examinations and testing.

Boris Johnson’s health condition, however, deteriorated on Monday, April 6th. This situation was cited as the reason for his transfer to the intensive care unit.

Signs of Illness Observed

The British Prime Minister’s Office stated in its statement that Boris Johnson is receiving excellent care from his medical team and has personally expressed gratitude to all colleagues in the British National Health Service for their hard work and effort.

The Prime Minister’s Office statement also stated that Boris Johnson has authorized Dominic Raab, the British Foreign Secretary, to conduct state affairs and “do whatever is necessary.”

Boris Johnson announced his infection with COVID-19 virus in the last days of March. After that, he went into quarantine to carry out state affairs and continued his duties in isolation from the Prime Minister’s office building.

He had expressed optimism in a video message regarding the fight against coronavirus in Britain. It is reported that the British Prime Minister has lost weight and continues to suffer from severe fever and cough.

In early March, Boris Johnson shook hands with many people in a hospital where several coronavirus patients were hospitalized. At that time, he said he does not regret doing so and will repeat such actions in the future.

The British government faces many difficulties in combating the spread of coronavirus. Delays in responding to the spread of this disease have resulted in many British people becoming infected. Moreover, Britain’s health and medical system suffers from budget shortages.

In this country, coronavirus testing has not been conducted sufficiently and there is a shortage of masks, protective clothing, and ventilators in hospitals. Some clinics have even reported a shortage of oxygen for treating lung patients.
