US Secretary of State: Islamic Republic Facing Legitimacy Crisis
Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State, said on Wednesday, March 29 that Iran’s regime is facing a legitimacy crisis as parliamentary elections recorded the lowest voter turnout since 1979.
He wrote on Twitter that Khamenei is lying instead of accepting responsibility for killing passengers of a civilian airplane and the dangers within the country that threaten people’s health. The foreign minister of President Trump’s administration further added that the leader of the Islamic Republic is destroying Iran’s children by killing them in a foolish military expedition in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.
Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State, had previously also referred to the low participation of Iranian people in the Islamic Consultative Assembly elections as “a fake election.”
