A Kurdish Peddler Killed by Direct Fire from Border Guard Forces in Asnuyeh

A peddler from the village of “Soughanlou” under the central district of Piranshahr city was killed as a result of direct fire from border guard forces in the border heights of Asnuyeh.
According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, a 21-year-old Kurdish peddler named “Asad Bourka” was targeted by border guard forces’ bullets on Thursday, the 19th of Ordibehesht, in the border heights of Asnuyeh and after being transferred to Piranshahr Hospital, he died due to the severity of his injuries.
According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, since the beginning of Ordibehesht month until now, five porters and border peddlers have been killed as a result of direct fire from border guard and Revolutionary Guard forces, and three porters have also been wounded. Additionally, one porter died as a result of falling from border heights in the Horam region.
In recent years, dozens of porters who are forced into porter work due to economic hardships have lost their lives. In addition to dangers such as falling off mountains and freezing, shooting at porters in recent years has claimed the lives of dozens and wounded dozens more.
This is while Iranian officials acknowledge that the volume of smuggled goods brought in by porters compared to smuggling through other routes is very insignificant.
