Five-Year Prison Sentence Issued for a Kurdish Citizen in Iran

A Kurdish citizen named “Salman Afra” from Ni village, a suburb of Marivan, was sentenced to five years in prison by the Marivan Revolutionary Court.
According to a report by the Campaign to Defend Political and Civil Prisoners, Salman Afra, who was arrested in the city of Marivan in November of last year, was sentenced to five years in prison by the Marivan Revolutionary Court on charges of “cooperation with Kurdish opposition parties to the Iranian government.”
According to this report, Mr. Afra was summoned on November 27 of last year through a phone call to the news office of the Marivan Intelligence Office, and after appearing at this security institution, he was arrested and transferred to the detention center of the Sanandaj Intelligence Office.
Salman Afra was temporarily released on December 28, 2018, on bail pending the completion of legal proceedings, after two months in detention.
