John Bolton: Qasem Soleimani is one of the most dangerous people in the world; do not underestimate the IRGC and Quds Force

The U.S. President’s National Security Advisor said on Wednesday, April 10, in a radio interview, while confirming the assessment that “Qasem Soleimani,” commander of the Quds Force, is “one of the most dangerous people in the world,” that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Quds Force should not be underestimated.
John Bolton, in an interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, in response to a question about remarks by James Stavridis, a retired senior officer of the U.S. Navy, who said “Qasem Soleimani is one of the most dangerous people in the world,” said this assessment is absolutely correct.
He stated that the IRGC and especially the Quds Force, which Soleimani commands and has caused destruction throughout Iraq and Syria, should not be underestimated, and said this is why President Trump’s decision to designate the IRGC as terrorist is a worthy decision.
Trump’s security advisor noted that the IRGC had long been known as a supporter of terrorism, and the official designation of it as terrorist means that anyone who deals with it or its sub-groups faces a maximum sentence of twenty years in prison.
He further noted that President Trump’s decision is “very important” and is a message to the United States’ allies in Europe that if anyone is considering trading with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, they must also consider the prospect of twenty years in prison.
On Monday evening, the U.S. Secretary of State said in an interview with Fox News that in his view, there is no difference between Qasem Soleimani, commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force, and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of ISIS, and both are terrorists.
President Donald Trump on April 8 formally placed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the list of terrorist organizations in an official statement. According to the U.S. Secretary of State, President Trump’s decision to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization will be officially implemented as of April 27.
