Bokani Bookseller Sentenced to Prison on Charges of Selling ‘Bible’ Book

A citizen from Bokani has been sentenced to prison by Iran’s judiciary on charges of selling the ‘Bible’ book and is currently serving his sentence in prison.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, in recent days, “Mostafa Rahimi” son of Ali has been sentenced by Branch 101 of Bokani General Court to serve 3 months and 1 day in prison.

A source close to Mr. Rahimi’s family announced that this sentence was imposed on him on the charge of selling the ‘Bible’ book.

Mostafa Rahimi was arrested on June 11, 2019 (21 Khordad 98) by Bokani Information Administration forces and was later temporarily released from prison after paying a bail of 200 million tomans until the court hearing was held.

After being sentenced to prison by the court, he has been detained for 10 days to execute the sentence and is currently imprisoned in Bokani Central Prison.

Mr. Rahimi had a bookstore on Melli Bank Street in Bokani and made his living from this business.
