Mashhad Representative: Physicians Have 6,700 Billion Tomans in Annual Tax Evasion

The Mashhad representative in parliament announced that according to documents from the Majlis Research Center, physicians engage in 6,700 billion tomans in tax evasion annually.
According to FARS News Agency, Nasrollah Pejmanfar distributed a report from the Majlis Research Center regarding physician tax evasion during Tuesday’s parliament session.
Based on this report, “experts estimate the actual amount of taxes that physicians should pay at 6,700 billion tomans, but in reality, physicians paid only 150 billion tomans in taxes last year”.
According to reports, a significant number of physicians in Iran lack card reader devices in their offices and receive visit fees in cash from patients. This method of payment results in the financial activities of these physicians not being recorded in their bank accounts and increases their discretion in filing their annual tax returns.
Based on official statistics, Iran experiences 35 to 40 trillion tomans in annual tax evasion.
