“12,000 Children” Suffering from Malnutrition in Sistan and Baluchestan Province

According to one of the officials of Iran’s Ministry of Health, 12,000 children in Sistan and Baluchestan province are suffering from malnutrition.

The ISNA news agency reported on Wednesday, citing the director of the community nutrition improvement program at the Ministry of Health, that “12,000 children in Sistan and Baluchestan province are suffering from malnutrition.”

Ahmad Eztian said: “Sistan and Baluchestan province has high statistics in terms of malnutrition, and therefore requires more serious attention in this regard.”

This number of malnourished children comes at a time when the province has a population of under three million people.

The official IRNA news agency reported last year, citing the head of the Planning and Budget Organization of Sistan and Baluchestan, that “according to the 2016 census,” the population of this province with 19 counties has reached 2 million and 775,000 people.
