Group of Ahvaz Urban Train Employees Stage Gathering

A group of employees of the Ahvaz urban train gathered in front of the city’s municipality.
On Wednesday, July 10, a group of Ahvaz urban train employees gathered for the eleventh day in front of the city municipality in protest of 16 months of wage arrears and their 2018 bonus payments.
According to these workers, the employer has so far only deposited 13 million tomans as an advance to workers’ accounts, and last year only six months of wages were paid to workers, which was also back wages from 2017.
This is not the first time Ahvaz urban train employees have held protest gatherings; last year, these workers repeatedly gathered to protest their wage arrears.
Labor and trade union protests in Iran have increased in recent months with rising inflation and prices, and some of these protests have been met with security crackdowns by the Iranian government.
The United States has repeatedly condemned institutionalized financial corruption among members of Iran’s ruling class, the plundering of this country’s natural resources by the leaders of the Islamic Republic regime, and the extraterritorial adventures of the system ruling Iran, considering them among the main factors of Iran’s economic and financial problems.
