The number of Iranians migrating to Europe via Serbia has increased one hundredfold

Some reports indicate that the number of Iranians entering Europe through Serbia for the purpose of migration has increased significantly.
A report published on Sunday, September 9 in Sarajevo Times states that the number of Iranians who initially arrive in Serbia by plane with tourist visas and then migrate to Europe has increased to an unprecedented level.
According to the publication, only 16 Iranians entered Serbia through this route with asylum requests last year, whereas from the beginning of the current year to now, this number has increased to 1,647 people.
According to the newspaper, the increase in the number of Iranians migrating to Europe through Serbia is the result of an agreement signed between Serbia and the Islamic Republic of Iran one year ago, which abolished the visa requirement for Iranian nationals. Since then, more than 20,000 people have traveled from Iran to Serbia.
