Amnesty International Calls for Immediate Release of Farhad Meisami

Amnesty International has announced that Iranian authorities must immediately and unconditionally release Farhad Meisami.

This political prisoner is being held against his will in Evin Prison’s medical ward in order to forcibly end his hunger strike.

Farhad Meisami, a physician and human rights activist, has been in prison since August for supporting the Women Against Mandatory Hijab campaign.

His health is in serious danger due to his prolonged hunger strike.

It is reported that Farhad Meisami was forcibly transferred to the prison’s medical ward a month ago and was placed under an IV against his will. Amnesty International adds that his only crime has been speaking out against mandatory hijab.
