Railway Line Maintenance Workers’ Strike Continues After Two Weeks in Iran

The strike and gathering of workers in the railway line and infrastructure maintenance sector (traverse) has continued in several Iranian cities.
Multiple gatherings of railway line and technical infrastructure maintenance company workers in various Iranian cities began on July 20 and in protest against unpaid wages for several months.
The Coordination Council of Railway Line and Technical Infrastructure Maintenance Workers issued a statement announcing that the strike of workers and employees has remained unanswered so far, but protests will continue until their demands are met.
According to reports, this strike has been held in various regions of Iran and continues. Iran Labor News Agency, ILNA, reported on Sunday, August 5, citing some workers that the occupational protest of technical infrastructure line workers has expanded with the participation of workers in the Ahmadabad region of Hormozgan and Abu Muslim station maintenance and several other stations.
In recent days, workers from Nishapur, Sabzevar, Kashamar and Atar stations, railway infrastructure line workers in Zanjan and Hormozgan rail areas (Sirjan), Islamshahr Tehran, Karaj, Lorestan, Azerbaijan, Zagros, Shahroud, Damghan and Semnan had engaged in occupational protests but to no avail.
Seven thousand workers of this company are demanding the payment of health insurance, full settlement of unpaid wages or at least payment of three months of back wages, and the cancellation of temporary contracts and the conclusion of permanent employment contracts.
