Iranian Police Report Killing of ‘Four Armed Criminals’ Affiliated with ISIS

Iranian police say four individuals, whom they describe as ‘armed criminals,’ have been killed in Rudan County, Hormozgan Province. Published images show that an ISIS flag was also discovered along with other equipment from them.
Ezatollah Maleki, commander of the law enforcement forces in Hormozgan Province, told reporters on Monday, June 22, that following ‘intelligence operations and monitoring of existing reports concerning the movement of armed criminals in eastern parts of Hormozgan Province,’ on Sunday afternoon police forces ‘encountered a four-member team of these criminals in the mountains surrounding Rudan County and after an armed confrontation’ killed all of them.
According to him, ‘in a search of these killed individuals, four military weapons, 112 military rounds, amounts of explosive materials, and a flag bearing the ISIS emblem were discovered.’
According to ISNA news agency, Mr. Maleki identified the identities of two of these individuals as ‘foreign nationals with foreign identification cards’ but made no reference to their nationality.
The commander of police in Hormozgan Province added that ‘the identities of the other individuals are under investigation.’
Simultaneously, the head of the judiciary in Hormozgan Province said that ‘five individuals linked to the ISIS group were arrested in Bandar Jask.’
According to Mehr news agency, Mohammad Sadegh Akbari stated: ‘In recent days, five individuals who were linked to the terrorist group ISIS were arrested in Bandar Jask and were sent to prison with a temporary detention order.’
This judicial official in Hormozgan Province added: ‘The case of these individuals is under review and a final ruling regarding them will be issued in the near future.’
Following the attacks on June 17 by two armed groups on the mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini in southern Tehran and the Islamic Consultative Assembly in Baharestan Square, security measures in Iran have been intensified, and Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence reported the arrest of 43 people within three days.
In the attacks on these two religious and political bases of the Islamic Republic, 18 people were killed and more than 50 injured. Iranian security forces say that five attackers in these attacks were killed in confrontations with law enforcement officers.
Mahmoud Alavi, Iran’s Minister of Intelligence, announced on Sunday that the planner and commander of these attacks was killed outside Iran’s borders with the help of what he called ‘a cooperative and friendly intelligence service.’
He provided no further details on this matter.
According to Iran’s Minister of Intelligence, Tehran has dealt serious blows to approximately 100 teams he described as ‘terrorist’ over the past three years. Mr. Alavi announced that attempts to carry out terrorist acts in Iran have recently intensified.
Hours before Iran’s Minister of Intelligence’s interview, Tehran’s law enforcement media center also reported the discovery of the vehicle of the attackers in the Tehran attacks.
The Islamic State group (ISIS) claimed responsibility for these attacks through the distribution of statements and videos, and threatened that it will carry out more attacks against Iranians.
Officials of the Islamic Republic say they will show a harsh response to these attacks.
In the latest statements on this matter, Mohammad Bagheri, commander of Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff, in a message to a commemoration ceremony for those killed in the recent attacks in Tehran, warned those whom he called ‘terrorists and their supporters’ and threatened them with what he called ‘new unforgettable lessons.’
