United Voice for Boycotting the June 2021 Elections

A number of civil and political activists from 50 cities and 25 provinces of Iran, through a letter, called on the people to boycott the 2021 presidential elections so that an anti-people government does not continue. The content of this letter, which has been signed by families of victims of nationwide protests, religious minorities, and civil and political activists, is as follows:
To the Great People of Iran
United Voice for Boycotting the June 2021 Elections
and Peaceful Transition from the Islamic Republic
to a Government of the People, by the People, and for the People
Dear Compatriots,
We, the signatories of this letter, a sample of the rainbow of the Iranian people, from different ideologies, beliefs and religions, from various tribes and ethnicities of Iran, from different provinces, cities and villages throughout our beloved country, remain your children, millions of Iranian citizens who have become victims of corruption, violence and the incompetence of the government of velayat-e faqih and the closed and dictatorial constitutional system governing us.
We humbly and affectionately ask you, our noble compatriots, to unite our voices so that in order to protect Iran’s national interests and preserve the lives and property of the people, for a peaceful and non-violent transition from the disordered system of velayat-e faqih and the coercive inhumane anti-human constitution of its system towards achieving a democratic secular constitution based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, under the name of the Democratic Secular National Solidarity Movement, we boycott the ceremonial presidential elections of the Islamic Republic on June 28, 2021, so that the current anti-people government does not continue.
The world today, witnessing the extensive popular protests over the past 42 years that were severely suppressed, particularly in the past 12 years, from the June 2009 uprising, to December 2017 and November 2019 to today, has witnessed the will of “us” the Iranian people in opposing the thieving religious authoritarian system of the Islamic Republic (velayat-e faqih – Ali Khamenei and its constitution) and our ideal to achieve a democratic and universal constitution.
The foundations of human rights and the interests of the Iranian people, for coexistence in democratic alignment with neighboring countries and other countries of the world, are in no way negotiable and the international community must understand this well.
We strongly say that those parts of the global community that stand with the Democratic Secular National Solidarity Movement of Iran and are not seeking to trade the interests of the nation with the thieving religious authorities of the Islamic Republic at the negotiating table will remain in the historical memory of the Iranian people as true friends and allies of democratic Iran.
Dear compatriots, the widespread boycott of the false and ceremonial presidential elections by the masses of the Iranian people expresses our will and vote in alignment with the National Solidarity Movement. This movement, with firm determination to replace the religious apartheid constitution of the Islamic Republic with a new democratic constitution that guarantees the unconditional implementation of human rights for each citizen of our country, is advancing based on the creation of the following conditions:
1. The removal of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,
2. Holding a referendum to dissolve the constitution of the Islamic Republic,
3. Creating the necessary and sufficient conditions for holding free and fair elections during the transition period under the supervision of impartial organizations such as the United Nations to form a Constituent Assembly,
4. Drafting a new constitution for the country by the Constituent Assembly, based on the following values:
- The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted December 10, 1948, and all its conventions and covenants,
- The separation of religion from government based on complete respect for all religions, beliefs and ideologies,
- Equality of citizenship rights for all Iranian people of any belief, gender, tribe and ethnicity before the law,
- Equality of women’s rights with men in all aspects of life and politics,
- Freedom of thought and expression, freedom of press and media,
- Freedom of association and activity of political parties, labor unions, industrialists, artists, writers unions and others,
- Establishment of a free economy based on social justice and prohibition of any monopoly, creating equal opportunities for all citizens,
- Implementation of peaceful foreign policy and constructive diplomatic relations based on national interests, commitment to and respect for international law and order to preserve peace, security and stability in the region and throughout the world and commitment to the protocol for the non-proliferation of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.
The realization of these ideals rests on the shoulders of all sectors of Iranian society, including craftsmen, artists, journalists, educators, workers, athletes, free-thinking clergy and government officials, to stand together in this national path and in support of the National Solidarity Movement with the Iranian people to boycott the elections and achieve a non-violent transition from the Islamic Republic system. This is for all people regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity and beliefs – the Republic of Iran.
To Iran’s Armed Forces:
Each of you is an honorable son and daughter of Iranian soil, father, mother, brother, sister, friend, acquaintance and neighbor of the people and fellow members of the Iranian family. We call upon you, guardians of this land and frontier, to stand with the National Solidarity Movement for a peaceful transition from the Islamic Republic to a democratic-secular government. “We, the Iranian people” have been struggling for more than a century to achieve democracy and human rights and deserve dignified living conditions and a bright future for all.
From the bitter memory of 1978, we learned that revenge, purging of opponents, execution, hatred and violence have destroyed the cultural, moral, economic, political and social fabric of our country. Iran, this ancient human civilization that sits on vast wealth of natural and human resources, with the Islamic Republic has fallen into misery and poverty and international isolation. We, as a nation, from staunch opponents to government officials, have all been trapped in the quagmire of the thieving religious authorities of the Islamic Republic in bitter captivity.
Post-Islamic Republic Iran will be governed within the framework of rule of law based on human rights. No citizen will be arrested or imprisoned for their political and ideological beliefs. Government executions and death sentences will be completely eradicated, and revenge and enmity will disappear from among us. Those who have bloodied their hands in crimes against the Iranian people will be held accountable to the Iranian people through an independent democratic civil judicial system and will be treated fairly.
We, the signatories of this letter, with mutual assistance, from merchants to intellectuals, from workers and laborers to entrepreneurs, from thinkers and intellectuals to armed forces, united and steadfast until our last breath, will remain committed to the path of the Democratic Secular National Solidarity Movement to establish rule of law based on democracy and human rights values. Without doubt, we, the Iranian people, will achieve victory and our united Iran will again play a fundamental role in establishing diplomacy, friendship and cooperation with the free world in promoting peace and stability in the global village.
With humility and warmest wishes
