Major fire in London residential tower: 6 dead, 64 injured confirmed

A major fire in a residential tower in west London killed at least 6 people and injured 64 others.

According to the Associated Press, London emergency authorities confirmed that as a result of the fire that broke out Wednesday morning on June 15 in west London, at least 6 people were killed and 64 others were injured and transferred to hospitals.

The fire started early Wednesday morning in the 27-story Grenfell Tower. Local media reported the dispatch of forty fire engines and 200 firefighters to the scene.

After an hour, the fire became uncontrollable in the upper floors. Some eyewitnesses said there were still people inside the building and screams could be heard.

The massive fire, visible from distant points, caused parts of the building to collapse.

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, in his initial reaction, declared this fire a “major incident” and announced an investigation into the matter.
