US sanctions 5 more entities linked to Iran's ballistic missile program

The U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control on Thursday sanctioned five Iranian entities for their ties to a key part of Iran's ballistic missile program.

According to the ministry's statement, Shahid Kharrazi Industries, Shahid Sani Khani Industries, Shahid Moghadam Industries, Shahid Shushtari Industries, and Shahid Eslami Research Center are the five new entities sanctioned.

Because these entities are owned or operated by the Shahid Bakeri Industrial Group, they have been added to the sanctions list related to Iran's missile program, pursuant to Executive Order 13382.

The Bakri Industrial Group is responsible for developing the ballistic missile program and producing solid-fuel missiles and has previously been placed on the sanctions list of the United States, the United Nations, and the European Union.

According to the US Treasury Secretary, "These sanctions target key entities involved in Iran's ballistic missile program, which the regime prioritizes over the economic well-being of its people."

"As the Iranian people suffer, the government and the Revolutionary Guards continue to fund foreign fighters, terrorist groups, and human rights abusers," Steven Mnuchin said in a statement.

The US Treasury Secretary emphasized, "We have no hesitation in exposing the regime's economic mismanagement and spending abundant resources from the pockets of our citizens to finance threatening missile systems."

As a result of today's action, all assets and interests of these entities are frozen, and US citizens are prohibited from doing any business or cooperation with them, the US Treasury Department said in a statement.

Foreign financial institutions that knowingly facilitate the financial and commercial transactions of these entities or support individuals associated with them will also face the risk of sanctions and severance of ties with US financial centers.
