Execution of three prisoners in Amol Prison

HRANA News Agency – At dawn today, Wednesday, May 19, the death sentences of three prisoners who had previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges were carried out in Amol Prison.
According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, three male prisoners were executed in Amol Prison at dawn today, Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
The identities of these prisoners, who have previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges, have been confirmed by HRANA as Farshad Nematzadeh, Mehdi Shircian, and Ishaghi.
These prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement cells in Amol Prison yesterday to serve their sentences.
The execution of these prisoners has not been announced by the media inside Iran or official sources as of the time of writing this report.
According to the annual report of the Center for Statistics, Publications and Works of the Human Rights Activists' Association in Iran, at least 299 citizens were executed and 85 others were sentenced to death between January 1, 2021 and December 20, 2021. Among those executed, four child criminals were executed.
According to the same report, more than 88 percent of executions carried out in Iran are not reported by the government or judicial institutions, which human rights organizations call "secret" executions.
