At dawn today, Wednesday, March 28, the death sentences of three prisoners in Qezl-e-Hesar Prison were carried out. Two of them were sentenced to death in separate cases on charges of murder, and one prisoner was sentenced to death on charges of war.
The identities of the two individuals who were executed on charges of murder, "Mosayeb Azizi" from Arak and "Sajjad Eqbali" from Kohdasht, have been established, but the identity of the individual who was accused of "Moharebeh" and sentenced to death is still unknown. Not only has the judiciary's media outlet not provided details of his case, but the executions of these three individuals have not been announced by prison officials or relevant institutions.
According to the annual statistics of the Center for Statistics, Publications and Works of the Human Rights Activists' Association in Iran, from January 1, 2024 to December 20, 2024, at least 930 prisoners, including 5 child offenders, were sentenced to death in Iranian prisons and their sentences were carried out. This figure has increased by about 24 percent compared to the same period the previous year, and among the sentences issued, the sentences of 4 people were carried out in public. So far, 214 others have been sentenced to death; in addition, the initial sentences of 54 others have been confirmed by the Supreme Court during the same period.
It should be noted that many compatriots have been sentenced to death for various reasons, including religious minorities and political figures, and their sentences are being carried out, but their executions have not been reported in the media in any way, and their bodies have not even been handed over to their families for burial or ceremonies.
