Continued rapid growth in housing prices under Raisi's administration

Central Bank statistics show that since August last year, when Ebrahim Raisi's government took office, the price of housing per square meter in Tehran has soared from around 30 million tomans to over 35 million tomans in Esfand 1400.
In recent days, media outlets close to the government have reported a six-fold increase in housing prices in the past four years, but they did not mention the rate of growth during the Ebrahim Raisi administration.
The Central Bank has not yet released statistics for April, but detailed statistics from last year show that housing prices remained almost constant from the beginning of last year to July, but grew by 17 percent from August to March last year, when the Raisi government was in office.
The price per square meter of housing at the end of 2017 was around 5 million 760 thousand tomans, and at the end of 2018 and 2019, it had peaked at 9.5 million tomans, 14.5 million tomans, and 30 million tomans, respectively.
The surge in housing prices was largely due to the significant fall in the value of the rial, which continued last year.
The average dollar rate last year was 26,500 Tomans, an increase of about 15% compared to 2019.
Over the past few years, many people have invested in the housing market, coins, and the stock market to prevent the decline of their rial assets, but the stock market has faced a collapse over the past two years, and on the other hand, the government has approved and implemented the coin tax law over the past three years.
Recently, the government has also started collecting taxes on empty homes.
