Forced marriage; Child criminal accused of murdering wife released from Qarchak prison in Varamin after paying blood money

On Sunday, April 28, Khaleda Jalili, a child criminal accused of murder, was released from Qarchak Prison in Varamin. The child criminal was released after paying blood money and obtaining the consent of her parents. Ms. Jalili was sold by her mother to a man as a child and became his wife. When she was 17, she was accused of murdering her husband during a physical altercation. Ms. Jalili was arrested in August 2017 and transferred to Qarchak Prison in Varamin.

According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, on Sunday, April 29, 2021, Khaleda Jalili, a victim of forced marriage and a child criminal accused of murder, was released from Qarchak, Varamin.

The release of this child criminal, who has been in prison since 2017 on charges of murder, was achieved by paying blood money and obtaining the consent of his parents.

Ms. Jalili was sold to a man by her mother as a child and became his wife. On June 1, 2017, when she was 17, she was accused of murdering her husband during a physical altercation. She was arrested two months later, on August 5 of the same year, and transferred to Qarchak Prison in Varamin.

After some time, the victim's father appeared before the court and announced his conditional consent in exchange for 150 million Tomans. Khaleda Jalili was charged with "premeditated murder of a Muslim, illegal entry and residence" in the country.

Previously, a source familiar with Ms. Jalili's condition before the murder and on the night of the incident told HRANA: "After marriage, Khaleda's husband used to give her to other men in exchange for money and beat her repeatedly. On the night of the incident, an argument broke out between Khaleda and her husband, and during the fight, her husband was injured by a knife and died in the hospital a few days later. He was eventually arrested on charges of murdering his wife and was transferred to prison after a while."

Khalida Jalili, Abdul Jalil's daughter, was born on July 29, 2019, to an Afghan immigrant family in Islamshahr. She has been working as a laborer since the age of 12. Ms. Jalili's mother returned to Afghanistan some time ago after remarrying, and Ms. Jalili has no relatives in Iran.
