Salar and Ebrahim Sediq Hamedani's hunger strike in Urmia Prison

HRANA News Agency – Salar and Ebrahim Sediq Hamedani, political prisoners in Urmia Prison, have been on a hunger strike since Monday, January 4, to protest the failure to implement the principle of separation of crimes. The two prisoners sat down in front of the Urmia Prison guard during the hunger strike.
According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, today, Monday, January 3, 2021, Salar and Ebrahim Sediq Hamedani, political prisoners imprisoned in Urmia Prison, went on a hunger strike.
The hunger strike of these two prisoners, which coincided with a sit-in in front of the guard of Urmia Prison, was carried out in protest of the failure to implement the principle of separation of crimes.
An informed source told HRANA's reporter: "A number of prisoners convicted of common crimes (theft) have been assigned by prison officials to harass and abuse political prisoners."
Ebrahim Seddiq Hamedani, son of Seddiq, his son Salar Seddiq Hamedani, and his daughter Maryam were arrested on March 24, 2018, and transferred to the city's central prison on May 23, 2019. Maryam Seddiq Hamedani, who had been transferred to the women's ward of the prison, was released from Urmia Prison on May 25, 2019, after submitting a bail application.
Ebrahim and Salar Sediq Hamedani were ultimately sentenced to 16 years in prison by Branch 2 of the Urmia Revolutionary Court on charges including “acting against national security through membership in an organization opposed to the regime” and “propaganda activity against the regime.”
On August 4, 2019, Salar Sediq Hamedani was transferred from Urmia Prison to the Urmia Intelligence Bureau detention center along with his father Ebrahim Sediq Hamedani. On August 7, 2019, Ebrahim Sediq Hamedani was transferred from the security agency’s detention center to Urmia Prison. Salar Sediq Hamedani was also returned to prison on August 20 of the same year. During the interrogation, these two political prisoners were accused of “propaganda activities against the regime in prison.”
Also, Ebrahim Seddiq Hamedani and his son Salar Seddiq Hamedani were sentenced to 11 months in prison for propaganda activities against the regime in a new case filed in prison, and this sentence was delivered to these citizens in person on Sunday, August 23, 1402, by the First Branch of the Urmia Revolutionary Court.
They were transferred from Urmia Prison to the detention center of this security institution in early November of this year and were finally returned to prison on December 25.
It is said that Ebrahim Seddiq Hamedani was previously arrested in 2005 on charges of collaborating with an organization opposed to the regime and sentenced to 6 years in prison. After serving two years in prison, he was released on parole.
