Thirteen-Year-Old Alina Analy Speaks of Mahsa Amini

Alina Analy, a thirteen-year-old girl who entered medical school upon completing her undergraduate degree, speaks of Mahsa Amini during her acceptance speech for the “Young Icon Award.”

The echo of Iran’s bitter events that have unfolded in the wake of nationwide protests has reverberated across the world, touching even the hearts of children and teenagers who empathize with the people of Iran.

Thirteen-year-old “Alina Analy” is one of these teenagers who, though not Iranian, has expressed her solidarity following the death of Mahsa Amini. Having recently entered medical school, she also mentions Mahsa Amini during her acceptance speech for the “Young Icon Award.”

In this speech, Alina Analy declares: “I am truly honored to be a recipient of the ‘Young Icon Award.’ Receiving the Icon award means stepping into the shoes of great people. I am not the ‘future,’ I am the ‘now.’ My hope is to use my platform and position to be an ever louder voice for women and girls around the world, to create more space for them and to make room for them at my table.

Little girls! There will always be a place for you at my table. I see you and I stand with you and I care for you. Finally, let us remember Mahsa Amini. Mahsa Amini was in Iran. She was beaten while in police custody and was killed. In support of Mahsa Amini, who was arrested by morality police for her headscarf and subsequently killed, she cuts her hair and continues: ‘Mahsa Amini! I am your voice and I will never allow you to be forgotten.'”
