Let’s Say Frankly That Revenge is Inevitable, Just Wait a Little!

Kayhan newspaper reported on the possibility of widespread retaliation against Israel in a note.

Last week, on April 1st, following airstrikes on the building of Iran’s consulate adjacent to its embassy in Damascus, the said building was completely destroyed and seven members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, including two commanders, were killed.

One of the commanders was “Mohammad Reza Zahedi,” the senior commander of the Quds Force and the external operations arm of the Revolutionary Guards, and his deputy “Mohammad Hadi Hajihrahimi,” who were killed in these attacks. Mohammad Reza Zahedi was the only non-Lebanese person in Hezbollah’s eight-member advisory council, which was equivalent to the group’s political office.

Tehran and Damascus held Israel responsible for the attack, but Israel has not officially claimed responsibility for the strikes so far. Hassan Nasrallah, in his speech last Monday, April 8th, while paying tribute to Mohammad Reza Zahedi and his colleagues who were killed in the aforementioned attack, said: “Iran’s response to Israel is a natural right and Tel Aviv must wait. Israel and America know this.”

Iranian officials hold Israel responsible for these attacks. Kayhan newspaper also wrote in a note: “This revenge should not be delayed. The longer it takes, the harder it becomes. Perhaps to understand this matter better, it would be good to look at it through the perspective of those officials who have the management of relevant affairs in their hands. They are certainly more aware than me, you, and any distant expert, and they know the ins and outs of the matter better. Some believe that immediately after the enemy’s attack on our country’s embassy building in Damascus, Tel Aviv, Haifa, and its nuclear and military centers should be targeted by missile and drone attacks without worrying about the consequences. We also know that this group’s position comes from patriotism and national devotion, but it is not reasonable; because it is emotional and sentimental, and feelings go to sleep after some time. But what should be done? Certainly, revenge must be taken, and of a surprising and deterrent kind. Time is important here, and we learned that during this past week, they have been carefully and meticulously examining the conditions to find the best way to take revenge. Let me say frankly that revenge will be inevitable, widespread, regrettable, and God willing, deterrent. Just wait a little!

It should be noted that the aforementioned attacks and the killing of Revolutionary Guards operatives who were in contact with Hezbollah dealt a severe blow to Iran. The Quds Force is an elite unit of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps that has considerable expertise in deploying forces outside the country. The Quds Force, which was established in the early 1980s during the Iran-Iraq War, reports directly to Ali Khamenei. The purpose of this military force has been the active expansion of the revolution throughout the world.

The name Quds, which this force chose for itself, is the same as Jerusalem, which in Arabic means “Al-Quds,” referring to the objectives of this force. The long-term goal of the Quds Force is the conquest and occupation of a city that is sacred to Jews and Christians, which is why the Quds Force cooperates with radical Islamist organizations opposed to Israel, such as Hamas or Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Ali Khamenei and Ebrahim Raisi have held Israel responsible for this airstrike and have threatened Israel with retaliation. Ebrahim Raisi issued a statement declaring that this cowardly crime will not go unanswered.
