Taliban declares end to war in Afghanistan

Kabul fell very quickly, contrary to the assessment of American intelligence agencies. The Taliban spokesman has announced the end of the war in Afghanistan. Mohammad Naeem has announced that the Taliban is ready to talk to Afghan figures and the international community to govern the country.

Taliban spokesman Mohammad Naeem has declared the war in Afghanistan to be over in an interview with Al Jazeera. Although the Taliban have spoken of their readiness to talk to all influential figures in Afghanistan, observers do not rule out the possibility of a harsh treatment of the opposition and their vengeful approach.

On Monday, August 16, Reuters published a report from Kabul on the Taliban's first official reaction after taking over the country's capital.

After leaving the country, former Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said he had relinquished power to prevent bloodshed.

Reuters cited US intelligence assessments of Kabul, which a few days ago said would take at least three months to capture, even though the Taliban managed to capture the city without significant resistance.

The Taliban spokesman said: "We invite all countries and organizations to negotiate and talk with us to solve all problems." Naeem also emphasized that the Taliban do not accept any foreign interference in the affairs of this country.

In her interview with Al Jazeera, she said that women's rights in Afghanistan are "respected" provided their behavior is consistent with Islamic law.
