Implementation of Dress Code Restrictions for Men in Government Offices and Public Spaces

The spokesperson of the Headquarters for Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil announced the implementation of dress code restrictions for men in government offices and public spaces.

Following women, it is now men’s turn to have dress code restrictions imposed on them. Last week, the requirement to wear a necktie became a pretext to prevent the holding of a nationwide conference of the Bar Association across the country. In this regard, the secretary of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution also spoke about men’s hijab.

He announced that just as women’s attire in public spaces should be appropriate, men’s clothing should also be appropriate. Especially in administrative environments, guidelines have been issued that should be followed in the country’s public spaces and more seriously in government offices.

Following this circular and guidelines, government employees should refrain from wearing revealing clothes, branded clothing, short sleeves, tight-fitting clothes, short pants, and wearing neckties. If these standards are not observed, the offending individual will receive a warning in the first stage and will be reviewed under the administrative violations framework in the second stage.

These standards must also be observed in public spaces, otherwise measures will be taken against violators.

Until now, women’s clothing was considered a factor in provoking men, but now the authorities have become sensitive to men’s clothing as well, preventing them from wearing clothes of their choice. The Islamic Republic system even dictates the type of clothing for men. People who not only lack freedom of speech and belief, but also lack freedom of dress.
