15-year-old teenager attempts suicide in Tehran

A 15-year-old girl in Tehran committed suicide by taking pills. The teenager survived after being taken to the hospital. The Iranian Forensic Medicine Organization has stated that the share of Iranian teenagers in annual suicides is more than 7 percent.

According to HRANA news agency, citing Iran newspaper, a 15-year-old girl in Tehran attempted suicide twice by taking pills.

In recent days, a teenage girl called the Tehran Emergency Room, asking for help to save her friend's life. She said, "My friend Shaghayegh came to our house an hour ago and went to the bedroom under the pretext of resting. After a few minutes, I went to her, but she was unconscious on the floor. I called her several times, and suddenly my eyes fell on several pieces of pills lying on the floor."

Following the call from the teenage girl, paramedics rushed to the scene and took her to the hospital. In order to investigate the cause of the incident, given the suspicious nature of the incident, the matter was immediately reported to Investigator Mohammad Wahabi. An hour later, the teenage girl was saved from death by the efforts of the medical staff.

Further investigation revealed that Shaghayegh had attempted suicide a short time ago. He said during the investigation: "When my parents separated, I went to live with my mother. Their separation hurt me a lot and I fell into severe depression. I was so depressed that I decided to end my life."

He continued: "That's why two weeks ago, I decided to commit suicide by taking pills. But my mother took me to the hospital. Even though I had come back from the dead, I couldn't cope with this situation, and that's why I decided to end my life again. I went to my friend's house under the pretext of seeing him and took a large amount of pills at the right time to end my life this time."

Ultimately, given the young girl's mental state and severe psychological trauma, she was hospitalized and treated in a psychiatric center by order of the criminal investigator.

The Forensic Medicine Organization has stated that the share of Iranian teenagers in annual suicides is more than 7%.
