Amir Abdollahian: Two issues remain in the nuclear talks, including economic guarantees

The Iranian Foreign Minister said that we had four red lines ahead of us, two of which have been resolved and two others, including economic guarantees, remain. He said that if the US agrees to these two issues, we will reach an agreement.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian spoke to reporters on the sidelines of Nowruz celebrations, including about the nuclear negotiations that are nearing their end.

According to ILNA news agency, Amir Abdollahian said: "We had four issues as our red lines. Of these four issues, two have been resolved, but two issues remain, including economic guarantees."

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic noted that he is still in contact with Enrique Mora, the coordinator of the Joint Commission on the JCPOA, and continues to exchange messages with the American side through him.

Amir Abdollahian said: "Whenever we get close to an agreement on these two red lines, our team and Bagheri will be present in Vienna. If the other side is ready, we are ready to reach an agreement with the presence of ministers in Vienna at the earliest opportunity. This depends on the American side and whether the expression of readiness on the American side and Biden is genuine or not."

The Iranian Foreign Minister added: "If the American side fulfills two demands today, we will reach an agreement tomorrow."

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian traveled to Moscow yesterday, Tuesday, March 15, and met and held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Following this meeting, Lavrov said in a joint press conference that Moscow had received written assurances from the United States that new sanctions against Russia would not prevent cooperation within the framework of the Iran nuclear deal.

Previously, Kremlin officials had announced their agreement to resume the JCPOA subject to guarantees from the United States that Russian transactions with Iran would not be subject to recent US sanctions against Russia.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has repeatedly stated that the JCPOA negotiations have nothing to do with the Ukraine conflict.

Following Lavrov's remarks, a senior US State Department official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that the United States continues to work with Russia to revive the JCPOA.

The American official added that Moscow can now understand that the sanctions imposed on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine will not affect the implementation of the JCPOA.

A senior US State Department official has said that Washington will not sanction Russia's participation in nuclear projects that are part of the JCPOA agreement, provided that the JCPOA is fully implemented.

He has emphasized that Washington cannot give Russia any guarantees beyond this.

US officials have said they will not allow Moscow to circumvent recent US sanctions against Russia through the JCPOA.
