Iran sentences political prisoner to another five years for protest and strike

Pirouz Mansouri, a political prisoner who is serving his 11th year in Gohardasht Prison in Karaj, was sentenced to 5 years in prison in a new case.

 

The HRANA website, which publishes news about human rights in Iran, wrote on Tuesday, May 15, that Mr. Mansouri was convicted in a new case on charges of "gathering and colluding against the regime" for his activities inside prison.

According to this report, examples of this case include actions such as hunger strikes and incitement of prisoners, declarations of support for Mohammad Ali Taheri, and the issuance of a statement regarding the death sentence of Sunni prisoners, which led to the issuance of a new 5-year Ta'zir prison sentence for Mr. Mansouri.

Pirouz Mansouri must spend another 10 years in prison, including the new 5-year sentence.
