Political activist Bahareh Hedayat is being interrogated in Evin after her arrest

Reports indicate that Bahareh Hedayat, spokesperson for the Central Council of the Office of Consolidating Unity and a women's rights activist, has been arrested and transferred to the Fourth Interrogation Branch of Evin Prison.
On Tuesday, February 12, the news site Emtaedan confirmed the arrest of Bahareh Hedayat and wrote that the political activist had announced in a call to her family that she was present at the Fourth Branch of Evin Prison to be briefed on the charges.
Journalist Reyhaneh Tabatabaei also confirmed this news on her Twitter page.
It was previously reported that Bahareh Hedayat had disappeared after being summoned to university security and had not been heard from. It was believed that she had been detained by security agencies.
Bahareh Hedayat was also arrested following the events of the 2009 elections and sentenced to seven and a half years in prison on charges of acting against national security and insulting Ayatollah Khamenei and the then President of Iran.
In recent months, security pressures on political activists, students, and journalists in Iran have increased.
International human rights organizations and the United States government have accused the Islamic Republic of violating freedom of expression and suppressing civil activists, and have called for the release of journalists who have been imprisoned simply for carrying out their duties and careers.
The US State Department also says that the Iranian regime has arrested thousands of protesters, civil activists, representatives of workers and other trade unions in the last two years.
