Statement by a group of activists: Inefficiencies in managing the coronavirus caused the deaths of tens of thousands of Iranians

A group of political, social, civil, and human rights activists issued a statement in protest of the way the coronavirus and vaccination were managed in Iran, calling for immediate mass vaccination and preventing Muharram gatherings.

According to the news website "Kalmeh", which is known to be close to Mir Hossein Mousavi, this group of activists demanded in this statement that a "competent and independent" court investigate the charges against officials whose "incompetence" and ineptitude in crisis management, they say, have caused the deaths of "at least tens of thousands of Iranians."

Another part of the statement, referring to a group of lawyers and civil activists who have been arrested in recent days while trying to sue some officials of the Islamic Republic following the spread of the coronavirus, states that despite the growing voice of protest against the government's self-interest and incompetence, there is a fear that "righteous voices will be imprisoned and imprisoned under security pressure."

These activists have described the Islamic Republic as "an authoritarian regime that has sacrificed people's health for political games."

The statement also mentions issues such as the Leader of the Islamic Republic's opposition to the import of the vaccine, concealing the existence of the virus and the true death toll, and "false promises to produce a domestic vaccine."

According to these activists, these cases "reveal a great catastrophe of corruption and mismanagement, waste of resources, and deadly deception of the people" in Iran these days.

Dozens of activists have signed this statement, including: Abolfazl Ghadiani, Parvaneh Salahshouri, Hassan Asadi Zeidabadi, Seyyed Mostafa Tajzadeh, Abdolfattah Soltani, Fakhr Al-Sadat Mohtashamipour, Mohammad Ali Amouei, Masoud Bastani, Vida Rabbani, and Rasoul Badaghi.
