Gang rape of 10-year-old girl in Herat

Officials at Herat Central Hospital report a gang rape of a 10-year-old girl in the province.

Rafiq Sherzai, a spokesman for Herat Central Hospital, told the media that the girl, who was gang-raped by individuals, was transferred to the maternity ward of the hospital by security forces.

Doctors at the hospital say that the girl was transferred to the hospital's maternity ward due to heavy bleeding.

This 10-year-old girl, who has a mental health problem, was transferred to the hospital by security forces from the Injil district.

Meanwhile, Herat police announced the start of an investigation to arrest the perpetrators of the incident.

The gang rape of this young girl has met with a backlash from women's rights activists in Herat.

This is the first case of sexual assault in Herat this solar year.
