Trump to Rouhani: Never, ever threaten America again

Shortly after Rouhani's threatening remarks to the United States, Trump addressed him and wrote that he should never threaten the United States, otherwise he would face severe consequences. Rouhani had said: "War with Iran is the mother of all wars."

Less than 24 hours after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's threatening remarks to the United States that "war with Iran is the mother of wars and peace with Iran is the mother of peace," US President Donald Trump, in a sharp reaction to his remarks, warned the Islamic Republic of the consequences of such statements.

Trump tweeted on Monday morning (July 23) Iranian time: "To the President of Iran: Never, ever threaten the United States again, or you will face consequences the likes of which few in history have ever seen. We are no longer a country that will tolerate your insane talk of violence and death. Be careful!"

Yesterday, in a meeting with the heads of Iranian missions abroad, Rouhani called “America’s work” a “conspiracy against Iran and the great Iranian nation,” and said, among other things: “America’s latest conspiracy is an attempt to tire the Iranian nation. Know that the Iranian nation is a master and will never be anyone’s servant. Americans must understand that peace with Iran is the mother of peace and war with Iran is the mother of wars.”

The Iranian president also reiterated his threat to "close the Strait of Hormuz," referring to the US's intention to reduce Iranian oil exports "to zero," saying: "Anyone who understands politics a little bit would not say we will stop Iran's oil exports. We have many straits; the Strait of Hormuz is just one of them."

Hassan Rouhani continued: "Mr. Trump! We are men of honor and guarantors of the security of the region's waterways throughout history; don't play with the lion's tail, it will be regrettable."

In addition to announcing the start of its unilateral sanctions against Iran in the automotive industry and precious metals trade on August 4, the United States has threatened that global customers of Iranian oil must reduce their import volume from the country to zero by November 4 of this year (2018), or they will face sanctions from Washington.

On July 2, in Switzerland, in response to this American intention, Rouhani threatened the United States, saying: "They don't understand the meaning of this, because it makes no sense at all that Iranian oil is not exported and then the region's oil is exported. If you can, do this and see the results."

Rouhani's remarks were met with a warm welcome from hardline Iranian forces. Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, immediately praised Rouhani's threat to close the Strait of Hormuz, saying, "This is the same Dr. Rouhani that we knew, have known, and should have known."

Last Saturday, a day before Rouhani’s renewed threat to the US, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei praised his remarks on closing the Strait of Hormuz, saying: “The president’s remarks during his recent trip to Europe that ‘if Iran’s oil is not exported, no country in the region’s oil will be exported’ are important statements that reflect the regime’s policy and approach.” He added: “The duty of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to seriously follow up on such positions of the president.”
