Trump: "No one is allowed to speak to Iran on behalf of the United States"

Donald Trump criticized Macron for sending “mixed signals” to Iran. Donald Trump said that only America can represent America. It was previously reported that Macron had invited Hassan Rouhani to talk to Trump.
US President Donald Trump said on Thursday, August 8, that no one is allowed to speak to Iran for the United States. Trump accused French President Emmanuel Macron of sending “mixed signals” to Iran about possible talks.
In one of his tweets, Trump wrote: "Iran is in serious financial trouble. They are desperately seeking talks with the United States, but are being given mixed signals from everyone who appears to represent us, including President Macron of France."
Trump immediately tweeted: "I know Emmanuel means well, as do everyone else, but no one speaks for the United States but the United States itself. No one is authorized to represent us in any way, shape, or form."
Reuters writes that it is not immediately clear from Trump's writings what the US president was referring to, but a report published earlier this week said that Macron had invited his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, to attend the G7 summit to meet with Trump.
A French diplomat called the report false on Wednesday.
The 45th G7 summit will be held in France from August 24 to 26. The summit is expected to address the crisis that has been brewing in Iran-US relations in recent weeks.
The president and other US government officials have previously said that Trump is ready to talk to Iran and that the United States does not want war with Iran.
