A number of volunteer aid workers were arrested by the IRGC in Khuzestan

Following the flooding in Khuzestan Province, it is reported that a number of public and volunteer rescue workers in the village of Gorieh have been arrested by IRGC intelligence agents.
The Human Rights Campaign in Iran reported on Thursday, April 12, quoting human rights activist Karim Daheimi, that two relief workers from Khuzestan, Ahmad Kaabi and Yaqoob Kaabi, were arrested on Friday, April 6, and nine relief workers on Sunday, April 8, who had gone to the village of Gorieh to provide aid to flood victims, were arrested by IRGC intelligence agents.
Referring to internal sources in the village of Guriyeh, Karim Daheimi told the campaign: "Ahmad and Yaqoub Kaabi, who were providing relief in the camp, were arrested by IRGC intelligence agents for unknown reasons, and we still do not know where they are being held."
According to Mr. Daheimi, Ahmad Kaabi is a master's degree holder in law and a cultural activist in Shushtar; Yaqoob Kaabi is also an artistic and cultural activist in Shushtar.
Regarding the arrest of the humanitarian workers, Karim Daheimi said that these Arab youths, who had gone to the village of Guriyeh to distribute food and collected aid, were arrested due to a dispute and argument with IRGC officers.
Gorieh village is one of the villages in the city of Shoaibieh, Shushtar County, Khuzestan Province. In recent days, many people from surrounding cities have voluntarily gone to Gorieh village and other villages in Shushtar City to provide assistance.
